Skeleton movement
The "Stairway To Heaven HMS," the latest manufacture movement from the Geneva-based wacthmaker, features its 4 Hz 'starified' escapement, placed like on a podium, and suspended in mid-air. Its adjustment is traditional, involving the meticulous fine-tuning of the balance wheel's inertia using peripheral weights, ensuring a regular and constant oscillation of the balance spring. This optimizes the performance of the movement and guarantees long-term chronometric stability. The double parallel barrels are fitted with longer and thinner springs to ensure a better unwinding. The new design of the barrel drums, with its graceful curves, perfectly mirrors the circles formed by the prominent bridges of the movement.
With its unique design, the Wavy Titanium case is the first to be made from Grade 5 titanium, a lightweight and durable material. A transparent DLC coating has been added, making the piece even more resistant to scratches, shocks, and fingerprints. For comparison, steel has a Vickers hardness of 200 HV, titanium of 400 HV, while the DLC-treated titanium reaches a hardness of 1,200 HV (1,800 HV for the black DLC version). A polishing on its edge, a subtle and refined detail, adds a precious dimension to the piece without altering its distinctly avant-garde appearance. Designed by Jérémie Arpa, son of Yvan Arpa, this complex design is a symbol of a family-run, independent, and self-financed watchmaking brand.
The mirror caseback of the Wavy Titanium introduces a unique innovation in horology. The mirror prevents the view of the skin through the skeletonized movement and offers an increased sense of depth.
