Skeleton movement
The UltraFino tourbillon marks a significant milestone for Bianchet with the introduction of its first ultrahin automatic movement: the UT01 calibre.
Entirely designed and developed in-house, this movement stands out for its 3.85 mm thickness, 8-gram weight, and remarkable robustness. Crafted from grade 5 titanium, it features a central gold rotor and a flying tourbillon cage measuring just 2.66 mm in height. The calibre has been engineered to withstand shocks exceeding 5,000 G, while meeting the standards of precision and finishing expected in Haute Horlogerie.
The development of the UT01 calibre is the result of a series of technical innovations aimed at combining thinness, mechanical performance, and reliability, without compromising the purity of its proportions, or the expressive presence of the tourbillon:
Suspended barrel: By eliminating the ratchet wheel, Bianchet was able to implement a suspended barrel system, offering a 60-hour power reserve within an ultra-slim architecture.
Re-engineered escapement architecture: The escapement stacking solution allows the use of a large screw balance wheel, ensuring both visual elegance and functional stability.
Optimized winding and time-setting system: A newly developed winding and time-setting mechanism minimizes friction and improves energy efficiency.
Advanced shock protection: Reinforced safety systems around the balance wheel and movement structure help absorb shocks and maintain stability, even under extreme conditions.
Despite its thinness, the movement reveals notable visual depth through its three-dimensional architecture and refined finishing. Each movement requires 15 hours of traditional hand beveling, complemented by decorations that play with contrasting materials and surface textures.
Housed in a subtly curved tonneau-shaped case measuring 40 mm in width and 8.9 mm in thickness, and paired with an integrated titanium bracelet with finely executed finishes, the UltraFino reflects Bianchet’s aesthetic philosophy rooted in harmonic proportions.
The UltraFino thus succeeds in combining advanced horological performance with a strong sense of design, offering a thin yet robust tourbillon conceived to be worn in daily life.
