Tourbillon 8-days Power Reserve
Daniel Roth and the Tourbillons
The invention of a genius – or how to design a watch mechanism which defies the force of gravity. The tourbillon is a complex mechanism which eliminates rate differences in the vertical positions by means of an escapement and balance fixed on a cage whose rotation is controlled by the second hand. The Tourbillons are perhaps the finest achievements of Daniel Roth, embodying its expertise in measuring and mastering time. The technology is enhanced by the passion of the watchmaker who has turned a traditional mechanical timepiece into a true masterpiece. Cases, oscillating weights and dials in precious metals, set with gemstones and hand-bevelled components. The movements are circular-grained and engraved by hand using techniques handed down from the 18th century.
The Tourbillon 8-days Power Reserve is truly one of the masterpieces in the Masters Grandes Complications collection produced by the Manufacture. This tourbillon movement, developed and manufactured entirely in-house, features an exceptional power-reserve of 200 hours (8 days) and confirms year after year the expertise of Daniel Roth's watchmakers.
The upper face of this distinctive model, features an off-centre hour and minute display and reveals, through a large opening of the tourbillon cage, the tourbillon with the traditional Daniel Roth bridge surmounted by the emblematic three-armed seconds hand. The hidden face, through which the movement is visible, shows the date and the famous 200 hours power-reserve.
This exceptional tourbillon called for a very special case. The designers at Daniel Roth developed a flip-over case pivoting at 12 o'clock. Its gold back is designed to permit a personalised finish. It can be enhanced by special engravings or personalized enamels to individual order.
The Tourbillon 8-days Power Reserve is water-resistant to 30 m and fitted with a hand-stitched alligator strap.
