Description

The Gérald Genta brand has always been interested in the combination of technique with new visual methods to express the time. In this way they were the first to revive the extensive use of retrograde indicators almost a quarter century before they gained their current popularity. Typifying the Gérald Genta approach of combining the traditional and the contemporary, the brand also continually elaborated on this retrograde theme by designing dials with different forms of retrograde layouts and traditional hands to create a bold and clear dial layout. The story continues to the present with the creation of another world premiere: the introduction of the Gérald Genta Arena Chrono Quattro Retro chronograph. A new impulse of contemporary design combining sportive and fashionable elements, for those who appreciate the extraordinary.

Unique layout and dial structure
The term quattro in this case concerns the use of four different retrograde indicators on the dial, which have never before been applied in combination with a jumping hour- a world premiere for the Gérald Genta brand. At the upper part of the dial at 12 o'clock, the jumping hour window shows the hour in red numerals, which (as the name implies), jump to the next hour once the retrograde minute hand has completely spanned the arc of 60 minutes shown between 10 and 2 o'clock. The brushed metal hour disc can be seen through the transparent central area of the dial where the openwork hours can just be discerned; each will become red when they take their place under the hour window. The retrograde 30-minute counter is placed at 3 o'clock and the 12-hour counter at 9 o'clock. At 6 o'clock, an unusual retrograde double hand indicator for the date is visible. The primary part of this hand shows the odd numbered dates on the upper scale and the even dates on the bottom scale via a smaller, secondary hand.
The chronograph pushers are fully integrated into the new titanium sport case with its fluted case band, which allows them to simultaneously function as crown protectors. The Arena Chrono Quattro Retro chronograph is water resistant to 10 atm and is presented on an exclusive black leather strap with perlage-finished folding clasp.

The multi-layer skeleton dial features a jumping hour, retrograde minutes and date, as well as two retrograde chronograph functions: hours and minutes. The movement is housed in a new titanium sport case with fluted caseband, two chronograph push pieces and double-face anti-reflection sapphire. This model is presented on an exclusively designed black leather strap with circular-grained folding clasp. It is water-resistant to 10 atm.

C'est ainsi que près d'un quart de siècle avant qu'ils retrouvent leur vogue actuelle, elle a été la première à faire revivre l'usage intensif d'indicateurs rétrogrades. Typique de l'approche de Gérald Genta, qui consiste à combiner le traditionnel et le contemporain, la marque continue donc sa recherche sur ce thème rétrograde en élaborant des cadrans de différentes formes, avec des dispositions graphiques rétrogrades et des aiguilles traditionnelles, pour les doter d'un design à la fois clair et audacieux. Structure et disposition uniques du cadran
Dans le cas présent, le terme quattro désigne l'utilisation de quatre indicateurs rétrogrades différents sur le cadran, qui n'avaient jusqu'ici jamais été appliqués en combinaison avec une heure sautante – une première mondiale pour la marque Gérald Genta. Sur la partie supérieure du cadran, à 12 heures, le guichet des heures sautantes affiche l'heure en chiffres rouges; comme son nom l'indique, elle saute à l'heure suivante lorsque l'aiguille rétrograde des minutes a complètement parcouru son arc de 60 minutes disposé entre 10 et 2 heures. Le disque des heures en métal brossé peut être observé par la zone transparente située au milieu du cadran, où les heures ajourées peuvent juste être discernées; chaque chiffre d'heure devient rouge au moment où il apparaît dans le guichet de lecture. Le compteur rétrograde de 30 minutes est placé à 3 heures, tandis que le compteur de 12 heures se trouve à 9 heures. A 6 heures, un indicateur rétrograde original à deux aiguilles affiche la date. La partie principale de cette aiguille pointe sur les dates impaires sur l'échelle supérieure, alors que les dates paires sont indiquées sur l'échelle inférieure par une aiguille secondaire, plus petite.
Les poussoirs du chronographe sont totalement intégrés dans le nouveau boîtier sport en titane, à carrure cannelée, ce qui leur permet simultanément de servir de protection à la couronne. Le chronographe Arena Quattro Retro est étanche jusqu'à 10 atm. et doté d'un bracelet exclusif en cuir noir, avec boucle déployante à finition perlée.
