AUTOMATIC SKELETON SKETCH

« But… is it real? »

D1 Milano is proud to present its first Automatic Skeleton Sketch 40.5mm in stainless steel with an optical white Cerakote coating. This special edition of the brand’s iconic Skeleton collection pays tribute to the early stages of the design process, when ideas are still fluid, bold, and unfiltered. The new watch perfectly encapsulates the brand's philosophy: a pop and contemporary vision of traditional watchmaking. The Skeleton is a model we have interpreted many times in different ways: technical, sporty, colourful, monochrome, fully black, and this time we decided to follow our passion for the unexpected and catchy details.

At first glance, the watch impresses with our iconic case coated in a strong and pure white Cerakote. This advanced ceramic-based finish not only provides exceptional durability and scratch resistance, but also gives the timepiece a bold, contemporary aesthetic that sets it apart from traditional metal finishes. The contrast is accentuated by the black sketches placed imperfectly, as if it were a true hand-drawn design, on all the various elements of the watch, creating a dynamic and sophisticated visual tension. We wanted to make it surprisingly easy for the watch to mess with depth perception and question how real it is.

Peeking through the deep dial, we get a direct glimpse of the mechanical heart that powers the Skeleton Sketch: a Seiko NH70 automatic movement, with a 41-hour power reserve, 24 jewels and 21,600 vph.

In essence, the Automatic Skeleton Sketch is our tribute to modern watchmaking: bold, technical, and unmistakably iconic. All our culture, design and aesthetics have been an exercise in observing the world, including the human one, to understand it, take it into our heads, copy, perfect it, improve it. We have taken what inspired us most and turned it into something better, or at least different. We welded our “theft” into a set of feelings that is unique, completely different from what it was taken from. «Good artists copy, great artists steal». More than just a watch, our new Skeleton is an idea frozen in time; an homage to the very first spark, where everything begins with a simple line.
