The design intent behind the Series 1 was to create a modern, novel interpretation of the classic time-only watch. Each detail, from lugs intended to sit perflectly flush with the wrist to anti-reflective coatings on the crystal that were tested and chosen to provide the most undistubed view of the dial, underwent relentless scrutiny. Comfort was a major priority; as collectors know, comfortable watches tend to be worn more frequently, fostering deeper emotional connections with owners. While the Series 1 Launch Edition is not avant-garde in concept, the goal with all Fleming releases is to imprint our unique aesthetic twist and make watches that are visually captivating in every aspect and angle.
Case and lugs: The focus was on creating a distinctive, cohesive, and visually appealing design for the case and lugs without straying from basic geometry. Attention was given to the often-overlooked relationship between lugs and the midcase, ensuring a design that captivates from various angles. The midcase comprises three parts: brushed top and bottom surfaces, a polished case band, and a unique skeletonized opening in the lugs. The lugs, resembling “horned” lugs, reveal their skeletonization and hidden facets on closer examination, adding subtle depth and unique interaction with light.
Dial and hands: Dial and hand design aimed for cohesion with the case, adaptability to different colors, versatility in various settings, and a blend of uniqueness with classic elements. The hands and markers echo the shape of the lugs, promoting a unified aesthetic. The dial, composed of frosted platinum and deep blue aventurine embraces a minimalistic texture that allows the natural beauty of the materials to speak.
Movement: The movement emphasizes traditional haute horlogerie hand-finishing techniques, striving for the highest standard while maintaining a contemporary feel. Semi-skeletonized bridges allow the wearer to observe the movement’s key components in action during the winding process, while contrasting surface textures - such as frosted bridges and hand-polished chamfers - contribute to a dynamic visual appeal. The ratchet wheels are black-polished and skeletonized with the brand’s logo, provides a view of the state of wind that synchronizes with the movement’s power reserve indicator. Black-polished balance bridge and ratchet wheels create varying reflections, offering a dynamic look that changes constantly with ambient light.
