Where Studio Underd0g envisioned a joyful, irreverent sunflower-themed timepiece, Sartory Billard translated that vision into high horology with extraordinary precision and artistry.

An Unlikely Meeting of Minds

This collaboration unites two very different but complementary forces in independent watchmaking: the UK-based Studio Underd0g, known for playful, design-driven concepts, and the French atelier Sartory Billard, renowned for its bespoke savoir-faire, hand-finishing, and mastery of dial-making. The result is a surprising yet deeply harmonious creation that bridges expressive design and traditional craftsmanship.

Sartory Billard’s Craft: From Concept to Collector’s Piece

Dial as a Canvas

The dial—at once whimsical and technically demanding—is where Sartory Billard’s expertise shines most. The central "seed" portion is hand-executed in grand-grain guilloché, a technique requiring immense precision. Surrounding it, a golden ring engraved with 24 guilloché sunflower petals demands meticulous alignment and finish. A floating sapphire disk, engineered with high clarity and exact tolerances, carries gilt hour indices and minute markers that hover above the dial with striking effect—a feat of both aesthetic and technical refinement.

Casework of the Highest Standard

The 38.5 mm × 8.5 mm case, manufactured to Sartory Billard’s specifications, features a mix of polished, brushed, and micro-blasted surfaces. The screw-secured lugs, concave bezel, and signature fluted crown speak to the brand’s obsessive attention to detail and tactile harmony.

Artisanal Hands and Assembly

The spear-shaped hands, designed and finished in-house, combine bead-blasting, polishing, and fluting. Even the green accents—an homage to the sunflower stem—are flawlessly integrated, and the final assembly and regulation are executed under Sartory Billard’s direct supervision.

Technical Specifications

Movement: Powered by the manually wound La Joux-Perret 7380, rebranded as caliber SMB01, this 3 Hz movement is ultra-thin (2.9 mm), with a 90-hour power reserve. Sartory Billard enhances it with grey NAC-coated bridges, snailed wheels, and hand-polished bevels—visible through the sapphire caseback. Strap: Custom Epsom leather strap in forest green by The Strap Tailor, echoing the sunflower motif. Water Resistance: 5 ATM / 50 m. Limited Edition: Only 10 pieces produced.
