Description

The Garrick S4 is made in Norfolk, England. It encompasses much hand-craftsmanship, manifest with its elaborate dial. However, despite its impressive in-house content and high-quotient of hand-craftsmanship, it remains surprisingly affordable.

The engine-turned dial, often termed 'guilloché' in Switzerland, is produced in-house on a traditional rose engine lathe. 'Bespoke' creations are at the heart of Garrick's paradigm, hence clients can specify one of several dial motifs. Furthermore, the dial surface can be suffused with a shade of their choosing.

Each dial is hand frosted and rhodium-plated. The indexes comprise of Roman numerals, ink-filled by hand and presented on an applied hour track. The steel hour and minute hands are available in a choice of finishes, including grained, polished or heat blued, all made in-house at the company's Norfolk workshop. A small seconds display is positioned at 6 o'clock. Overall, it takes a total of four days to produce one dial.

Measuring 42mm in diameter, the Garrick S4 is housed in a case formed of 904L stainless steel. This grade has been selected for its superior scratch-resistance and its extraordinary gleaming appearance.

An exhibition caseback affords views of the hand-wound movement. Despite making its own high-end movements, for this model Garrick has chosen to modify an ETA Unitas 6498, refining it to the firm's own exacting standards. The bridges are rhodium-plated, machines in-house and hand frosted, while an engraved barrel and crown wheel cover imbue the movement with a very distinctive appearance. The watch is fitted with an open worked balance cock and screwed balance. Moreover, the movement is tested and regulated in house, ensuring a daily variance of just +3 seconds.
