For REBELLION Timepieces, artist and stylist Saiff Vasarhelyi demonstrates the extent of his talent on the dials of an ultra-limited edition of just 10 pieces. With the Predator S Vazarely, art comes to the wrist!

With this ultra-limited series of only 10 Predator S watches, REBELLION offers an unprecedented encounter between cutting-edge mechanics and contemporary art. More than a personalisation, the brand gives the possibility of acquiring a real work of art by calling upon the passion and energy of its ambassador, artist Saiff Vasarhelyi (@vazarely on Instagram), in order to create exceptional decorations for the dials and the hour and minute hands. The fact that each watch has been hand-painted by the artist makes each individual timepiece truly unique.

A challenge and an artistic performance

“For the dial, I used the Airbrush technique, you have to be very delicate and precise, as it is very easy to make a mistake; it is extremely meticulous. And for the fine details, I used a brush. Everything is done by hand”, explains Saiff Vasarhelyi, while specifying “my source of inspiration comes from the colours, because colours represent life. I visualise the watch in my head with the harmony of the colours that I choose. It is something that I can't explain, it's intuitive... I don't make any sketches or preparations beforehand; everything is done on the moment.”

Designed like a true Art Watch, the colours give an incredible personality to the Predator S, which reflects the artist's state of mind, passionate and intense. For Saiff Vasarhelyi, the choice of colours is not taken lightly. He prefers “bright colours because they are powerful, they flash in the eyes, they do not go unnoticed. I always choose powerful colours because they represent my artistic touch, my personality... Colours represent life, and I like living life to the full.”

Former computer engineer, Saiff Vasarhelyi has decided to take another professional path, to get out of his comfort zone and live off his passion. However, it has not been easy. “It took me hours and hours to acquire a precise technique and perform at the level I have today. I cannot count the hours that I have spent perfecting my technique and my style.” Even today, each dial painted for REBELLION requires around 8 hours of work! And in order to magnify and illuminate the sublime work of the artist, the bezel of the watch is set with 144 diamonds for a total of 1.3 carats.

The time data of the Predator S Vazarely is powered by a Swiss Made calibre that is as robust as it is precise. This automatic movement vibrates at the standard frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, or 4 Hz, and provides 48 hours of power reserve. This calibre is housed in a 42mm diameter steel case worn on a large and comfortable coloured rubber strap.

The smallest of the REBELLION watches adorns the wrists of women in search of elegance and non-conformism. Its daring aesthetic is inspired by the original model designed by Eric Giroud. Embodying the rebellious spirit dear to the brand, ideal for enhancing one’s style, the women's watch is designed to ideally present the following time functions: hours, minutes, seconds, a simple date (day of the month), a power reserve, classic moon phases. It can also benefit from a total setting of up to eight carats.
