Perpetual Moon 38 White Gold, Aventurine Edition

Nocturnal Radiance

Feminine horology by Arnold & Son shines brightly by day and glows enchantingly by night. The new edition of the Perpetual Moon 38 joins the constellation of the most British Swiss watchmakers. Its blue aventurine glass dial, flecked with sparkling particles, evokes a starry sky. The 38 mm polished white gold case reflects a cool light, while the bezel and lugs shimmer with white diamond settings. At the centre of this celestial scene, the astronomical moon — a luminescent mother-of-pearl disc — moves across the sky, flanked by hand-painted constellations of the Great Bear and Cassiopeia. Offered in a limited edition of just 18 pieces, the Perpetual Moon 38 White Gold Aventurine Edition gracefully combines luminous poetry with fine horological craftsmanship.

Radiant Light

In this version, the Perpetual Moon 38 features a precious white gold case enhanced by diamond settings. The diamonds — brilliant-cut on the bezel, lugs, and clasp, and marquise-cut on the applied hour markers — amount to approximately 2.66 carats, giving the Perpetual Moon 38 White Gold Aventurine Edition a dazzling brilliance.

While facing the stars, this jewellery piece remains firmly grounded in the watchmaking expertise of the La Chaux-de-Fonds manufacture. It operates with a finely crafted hand-wound movement, inheriting the legacy of John Arnold, the English master watchmaker whose unwavering pursuit of precision defined his era.

A Sky Full of Stars

Every detail of the Perpetual Moon 38 White Gold Aventurine Edition honours its moon phase complication. The aventurine dial, dotted with metallic flecks, suggests the vastness of a star-filled night sky. Within a wide aperture, a large aventurine disc holds the moon in mother-of-pearl, with shadows delicately hand-painted.

True to the collection's tradition, the moon is surrounded by the constellations of Ursa Major and Cassiopeia, also hand-painted and highlighted with luminescent material. This choice honours John Arnold's heritage, a pioneer in marine chronometry. For centuries, these constellations have guided navigators across the seas. At their centre lies Polaris, the North Star, whose fixed position reliably indicates north and whose angular altitude reveals the latitude — the most dependable maritime reference before the invention of longitude instruments.

The Perpetual Moon 38 White Gold Aventurine Edition reveals two faces: by day, a polished white gold case paired with a deep blue, shimmering dial; by night, a more mysterious expression emerges as Super-LumiNova details glow with icy blue light. Then, the moonlight eclipses the sparkle of diamonds, asserting its full poetic power.

Feminine Mechanics

This timepiece embodies Arnold & Son’s high watchmaking standards within a refined feminine universe. To achieve this, the Swiss manufacture developed a bespoke movement — the smallest in its collection. Measuring 30 mm in diameter, the A&S1612 calibre was specifically designed to fit the 38 mm case, which maintains a slender profile of just 10.44 mm. Manually wound, it belongs to Arnold & Son’s lineage of long power reserve movements, offering an impressive 90-hour autonomy.

Astronomical Poetry

The moon phase is the main complication of the A&S1612 calibre. Consistent with the spirit of the Perpetual Moon collection, it features on a generously sized lunar disc. From 10 to 2 o’clock, the various lunar phases are depicted with precise accuracy, reflecting the visible age of the moon. True to its horological heritage, Arnold & Son endowed this complication with remarkable accuracy: once wound, the mechanism will only deviate by a single day after 122 years of continuous operation — a true testament to the manufacturer’s dedication to astronomical precision.
