RING WATCHES: A TRADITION TO BE WORN

Situated in L’ Abbaye, the Berney family workshop has been designing and crafting ring watches for over five decades. These rare and exquisite objects are vestiges of a time when timepieces were cherished not only for their functionality but also for their aesthetic refinement, where utility met beauty, and discretion complemented elegance.

The artistry of the ring watch perpetuates the heritage of so-called “secret watches”, delicate timepieces once favored by well-bred ladies who could, with utmost subtlety, consult the time during social gatherings where overtly checking one’s watch was frowned upon. Time was revealed discreetly, beneath a clasp, behind a diamond, or nestled into the wrist, most often in miniaturized form, scarcely exceeding a few millimeters.

A KNOW-HOW ROOTED IN ITS LAND

Today, the Berney workshop is among the last in Switzerland to embody the values of watchmaking as a true form of jewelry. Each ring watch is conceived and crafted in L’ Abbaye, where two generations of the eponymous family continue the path laid by their grandfather, upholding the highest standards of Swiss Made quality and authenticity.

Every creation is fitted with a Swiss-manufactured ETA movement, which beats at the core of a piece imagined by Berney and brought to life through production, assembly, and finishing that takes place across the Vallée de Joux, Geneva, and La Chaux-de-Fonds. It is within this esteemed horological region that the Night & Day collection was born.

BETWEEN SHADOW AND LIGHT

The Night & Day ring watch embodies an elegant duality, merging discretion with perfect legibility. Its black lacquered dial, both minimalist and sophisticated, is animated by two polished dauphine hands that glide gracefully between three minimalist dot indexes. At twelve o’clock, a sparkling zircon, reminiscent of a diamond, adds a luminous accent, subtly evoking the transition from night to day. This harmony extends to the bezel, where black diamonds alternate with brilliant white ones, artfully arranged in clusters of five within the claws, creating a captivating interplay of shadow and light.

More than a mere timepiece, the Night & Day is an ode to poetic watchmaking. Its refined design captures the mystery of night as well as the clarity of day, while preserving the emblematic Swiss precision of Berney. The thoughtful use of diamonds adds a subtle brilliance, making this piece an ideal companion from dawn to dusk.
