Maharana Pratap Stamp Watch Automatic
Power reserve: 40 h, 28800 vph
The Maharana Pratap Stamp Watch Automatic transforms a historic Indian postage stamp into the functional dial of a mechanical timepiece, creating a rare intersection of philately, horology, and cultural preservation. At its centre lies an authentic ₹10 commemorative stamp depicting Maharana Pratap, the legendary 16th-century ruler of Mewar, whose legacy of courage, resilience, and independence continues to inspire generations.
Rather than reproducing the artwork, the watch preserves an original government-issued stamp, retaining its texture, typography, and historical character. The dial is housed within a distinctive rectangular 316L stainless steel case whose sculpted profile and ornamental detailing draw inspiration from the architectural language of Rajasthan's royal heritage. A sapphire crystal protects the delicate artefact, transforming a collectible piece of history into a wearable object of permanence.
The exhibition caseback further celebrates Indian craftsmanship through intricately engraved lotus motifs, a symbol deeply rooted in the country's artistic traditions, while revealing the self-winding Miyota 6T28 automatic movement. Designed and handcrafted in Jaipur, India, the watch bridges traditional storytelling and contemporary micro-engineering, elevating a historical postal artefact into a living mechanical archive.
More than a timekeeping instrument, the Maharana Pratap Stamp Watch Automatic represents a uniquely Indian approach to narrative watchmaking—where heritage, craftsmanship, and mechanical horology converge to preserve history on the wrist.
