 Gerald Charles celebrates its 20th anniversary with the Maestro Anniversary watch, in an exclusive 252-piece limited edition

Switzerland, year 2000, the brand Gerald Charles is founded by the legendary watch designer and artist, Monsieur Gerald Charles Genta (1931-2011). Today, twenty years later, the Maison celebrates its 20th anniversary with an exclusive watch manufactured in a limited edition of 252 pieces: the Maestro Anniversary, part of the Gerald Charles Maestro collection. Each Anniversary watch carries, as serial number, a unique month-year combination engraved, starting from January 2000 and ending with December 2020, for a total of 252 months of brand existence.

The choice of the number 252 stems from the desire to make each watch unique and eternal, to celebrate together every month of the Maison since 2000. Gerald Charles gives a collector the opportunity to choose their most significant date, if available, in the last 20 years; with the guarantee that once selected, he will be the only owner.

The Gerald Charles Maestro Anniversary is an exclusive watch born from the harmonious coexistence of past and future. The iconic Maestro case, an original design by Monsieur Genta, is an exclusive collection for the Maison Gerald Charles. The original case is enriched by the perfect combination of new materials. For the first time, in fact, the case is forged in stainless steel, whereas until now every watch from the Maestro collection was made of precious metals. Moreover, a sporty rubber strap is mounted on a Maestro case, until now only available with leather straps. Like the case, the strap also comes from an original design by Monsieur Genta, realized for the Maison Gerald Charles but never used before in the Maestro Collection. The Research and Development department of Gerald Charles has conducted extended ergonomics studies in order to ensure a watch extremely comfortable to wear for both men and women.

Moreover, the Anniversary watch adheres extremely well to the wrist making it suitable to wear during sport activities.

The creation of the Anniversary watch stems from the desire to create a hard-wearing item and, for the first time, a piece in the Maestro collection that is 100 meters waterproof.  Gerald Charles overcame engineering challenges to guarantee the 10ATM on the very irregular shape of the Maestro Case.

The choice of black dial and strap, was made to highlight the Maestro Case, characterized by its very original shape between a square and an octagon with a convexity at 6 o’clock representing a “Smile”. The choice of matte finishing for both dial, indexes and strap wanted to balance the shiny case body creating the highest possible harmony. The result is a watch that stands out, yet remaining elegant and sporty.

The choice of the movement, which features a big date, was the result of careful study and in-depth research. In order to perfectly integrate it with the space created by the “smile” at o’clock, serving the case design. The Maison, once again, wanted to emphasize the importance of dates as elements of continuity in time as well as milestones of significant events that make a particular moment eternal, unique and unforgettable in our life.
