Maestro 9.0 Tourbillon Gem-Set Sapphires
Power reserve: 50 h, 28800 vph
The Maestro 9.0 Tourbillon, Ref. GC9.0-A-WG-SAPH-01, is one of the most technically and aesthetically advanced pieces ever conceived by Maison Gerald Charles.
The first Maestro watch designed by Mr. Gérald Charles Genta in 2006 was a Maestro Tourbillon, the unique “smile” at 6 o’clock in the Maestro case is the natural shape to host the tourbillon cage. The creation of this new timepiece took inspiration from the original Maestro tourbillon from 2006, resized to 39x41.7mm, it is realized in medical-grade stainless steel with a gem set 18k white gold bezel, and it has a royal blue sunburst dial, a signature Gerald Charles colour.
In this limited edition to 10 pieces, the 18-karat white gold curved bezel is set in the ateliers of Salanitro with internally flawless, intense blue sapphires. True masters of the gem setting artistic craft, in the Geneva ateliers achieved to integrate in a channel setting 66 baguette-modified cut gems in the bezel, following perfectly all the irregular lines of the Maestro case.
Through the sapphire crystal on the case back, it is visible the design and finishing of the GCA 3024/12 automatic flying tourbillon caliber. The Maison’s creative director Octavio Garcia worked with Gerald Charles’ technical teams and Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier to engineer a unique tourbillon cage in titanium in the shape of the Maison’s GC logo, that features a blue indicator applied to the “G” of the cage that serves as a small seconds indicator. This movement features a single bespoke 18k yellow gold bridge, visible on the back side of the movement, decorated with vertical Côtes de Genève. The plates and bridges all feature delicate aesthetic refinements that can only be found in the highest horological tradition, including diamond-polished anglage.
This 60-seconds flying tourbillon oscillates at 4hz with a power reserve of 50 hours thanks to its double barrel system, but also to the tourbillon cage that has been skeletonized and made in lightweight titanium. The time keeping is adjusted at the highest standards, with an average precision of -4/+6 seconds per day and the stop-second function during time-setting stays true to the very idea of the tourbillon to offer precise time keeping in every condition. The winding is automatic, thanks to an oscillating mass in 22-karats gold that rotates on ball bearings in ceramics to minimize the wearing over time. The mass also features a “honeycomb” pattern, designed by Mr. Octavio Garcia that is recurrent in all the Maestro collection.
The uniqueness of the Maestro 9.0 Tourbillon Gem-Set Sapphires features a screw-down crown, to ensure an uncommonly high 10 ATM (100mt) water resistance, a case of only 9.00mm thickness, an automatic flying tourbillon developed in partnership with Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier which meets Qualité Fleurier standards and with a 3mm thick vulcanised rubber strap, another original design of our founder Mr. Gérald Charles Genta, that ensures comfort on the wrist.
