Reminder
Watches in a Challenge category should, well, challenge the conventional wisdom. Here are five of our challenges.
“Nothing completely new can be done with watch design and functions.”
The watch features two firsts (as far as we can tell), both involving the crown: it serves as a visual part of the dial, forming the 8 o’clock index, and as a reminder when rotated.
“Innovation is the prerogative of brands with deep experience and/or resources.”
The founder, Petar Kajevski, has no background in watches or related disciplines. None of the core design team had ever designed a complete watch.
“Watches should be photographed with the hands in the 10 past 10 position.”
The 11i11 saat (meaning “11 past 11 watch” in Macedonian) looks best in the 11 past 11 position.
“With a standard date wheel, the best you can hope for is that the date window isn’t boring, annoying, or unreadable.”
The 5 o’clock index is our date window, so it's part of the design, not an afterthought. A custom single-digit wheel on top of the large-diameter Sellita SW400-1 ensures perfect legibility.
“Swiss-made watches should include a ‘Swiss-made’ label on the dial.”
A cross inside a letter is enough - if your Design is Made Based.
