The Montfort James from the Strata collection

The ‘James’ as it is affectionately known was designed to subtly challenge the watch design status quo juxtaposing traditional watchmaking with innovation and minute attention to detail. The ‘Clous de Paris’ dial inspired from the pyramidal ‘guilloche’ of the same name is, in fact, 3D printed in Stainless Steel sets the tone while the mineral, granular effect of this printing method is disruptive and cutting edge.

The 44mm polished and satin finished case is made up of 4 main parts. In this case, Montfort brings another innovation – case hardening. Carbo-nitriding allows the steel to be up to 8 times harder and resistant to scratches than normal steel – a careful balance between our ‘savoir faire’ and the extreme challenge it was to achieve this result.
