FASTRIDER CHRONO

The great outdoors, freedom and adventure are the highest callings for the TUDOR Fastrider chronograph, the most recent watchmaking manifestation of TUDOR’s partnership with the legendary Italian motorcycle manufacturer Ducati. Inspired by the non-conformist spirit of the famous Ducati Scrambler, a model emblematic of the brand, this new chronograph is a travelling companion that is both technical and exhilarating with a youthful and spontaneous style.

A SHARED AESTHETIC LANGUAGE

Created in 2011 at the beginning of the partnership between TUDOR and Ducati, Fastrider is TUDOR's technical and sporty line dedicated to the world of performance on two wheels. In 2013, with the Fastrider Black Shield and its matt black ceramic monobloc middle case, TUDOR presented the result of a shared design approach between the world of motorcycle sports and that of fine watchmaking. It was an experience that continued with the customisation of a Ducati Diavel using the same aesthetic language. In 2015, TUDOR continues on the path of aesthetic juxtaposition by offering a new Fastrider chronograph inspired by one of the most famous Ducati models: the Scrambler.

The Scrambler represents the exhilarating, non-conformist and adventurous expression of the Ducati DNA, the motorcycle of choice for a community that knows no boundaries. It was with this spirit of freedom in mind that the TUDOR Style Workshop approached the creation of the Fastrider model. Three dials were designed to reflect the various Scrambler versions: bright yellow, the model's historic colour, olive green for a powerful urban look and red for a retro-chic effect. Stripped back to the essentials, the dials are legible and colourful, bringing versatility and new-found energy to the Fastrider line.

Waterproof to 150 metres, the brushed steel case of the new Fastrider chronograph illustrates its technical nature and performance with its entirely matt finish, a feeling accentuated by the strong contrast created between the matt black ceramic bezel and the push pieces and crown with matt black PVD treatment. Angular and detailed, it recalls the body of a motorcycle. It holds a self-winding mechanical movement with a power reserve of approximately 46 hours, providing a calendar function with rapid corrector which may be read through an aperture positioned at 4.30.

The application of the motorcycle aesthetic does not end with the middle case of this new TUDOR model. One of the two bracelets available with the Fastrider chronograph is an interpretation of typical leather saddles with gadroons, offering an additional sporty effect. The other option is a matt black rubber strap that reinforces the technical language of the watch.

TUDOR'S TECHNOLOGICAL CORNERSTONE

The TUDOR collection was developed according to two main cornerstones, heritage and technology. The watches it encompasses present a subtle alchemy of references to the brand's history and modernity, masterfully measured according to the cornerstone to which they belong. In this spirit, and always with an experimental dimension in terms of materials and innovation, the technological cornerstone that forms the sporty lines of North Flag, Pelagos, Fastrider and Grantour presents a shared aesthetic language, the most representative feature of which is the entirely matt finish. Brushed middle cases, sandblasted details, matt colours: this choice provides a reading of the object through contrasting volumes rather than the play of light. This is tool watch DNA as opposed to a decorative approach. Functionality and reliability reinforced.
