On the occasion of its 10th anniversary, Louis Vuitton Escale collection is unveiling a new three-hand model synonymous with the art of travel, the philosophy that lies at the heart of Louis Vuitton. The landscape of the latest Escale is characterised by unique textured surfaces and a case design with sophisticated finishes. Its case has been entirely redesigned to include a bezel and a curved sapphire crystal for better readability, while the 39-mm case’s elegant proportions – ideal proportions relative to the wrist – highlight the watch’s versatile, unisex appeal. The movement comes from the rich landscape of traditional Swiss horlogerie, with a contemporary aesthetic that emphasises the modernity of the Maison’s watchmaking vision.
Louis Vuitton’s historic and unparalleled savoir-faire in trunkmaking is the anchor point of the new Escale timepieces. As seen in other Escale models over the past decade, the lugs are a nod to the angled form and riveted exterior of the brass corners and brackets that reinforce the Maison’s iconic trunks.
Angled and riveted markers in polished gold are hand-applied at each quarter, holding together the central dial and outer minuterie. The minuterie itself is punctuated with gold studs to evoke the nails of the lozine that runs along the exterior of a Louis Vuitton trunk.
The rose-gold model showcases a new dial texture – a direct reference to the finely grained surface of Louis Vuitton’s emblematic Monogram canvas. Custom dial stamps were developed and refined over several material trials in order to perfectly convey the suppleness and tactility of Louis Vuitton canvas on a metal dial.
The tip of the seconds hand is shaped to follow the dial’s curve, minimising the possibility of parallax error and allowing the seconds to be read with great precision.
Accuracy is supported by the LFT023 calibre, certified as a high-precision Swiss chronometer by the Geneva Observatory, whose 50-hour power reserve is assured by energy-efficient solutions such as crafting the seconds hand in titanium rather than gold.
The new rose-gold Escale with silvery dial comes on a calf-leather strap that draws undiluted inspiration from Nomade leather, originally introduced in 1999.
Through Escale, La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton celebrates the spirit of travel infused with historical trunkmaking codes.
