deLaCour presents its new series of sports related watches: five sport specialties, ranging from the most popular world-wide or local sports, as is the case for football or baseball, to the more elitist disciplines such as tennis, golf or polo. The five models, as mentioned above are named, Shoot, Strike, Tournoi, The Green and Elegance, respectively.
Based on an interesting and curious complication known as the “retrograde”, we obtain two sequential arc movements of 30 seconds. These the two retrograde hands replace the classic minute hand. In this way the minute is measured not as a full rotation of one hand but using two hands. The initial 30 seconds are counted out on the fist retrograde followed by the second arc movement of 30 seconds of the remaining retrograde hand.
The first arc movement corresponds with the action of the athlete who strikes the ball directly or by means of the specific instrument; the second arc, depicts the path of the moving ball.
The completion of one arc prompts the beginning of the other arc. The retrograde carrying the ball approaches the athlete and once in position, holds position while the athlete draws back to strike the ball. Both retrogrades return to their original position one succeeding the other, mimicking the strike and subsequent flight of the ball.
Playfulness and a sense of fun are the protagonists of these timepieces as is present to a great extent in the sports depicted, and in games in general.
The athletes for each model, in their respective disciplines, are perfectly located on the rotation centres, each player in an elegant athletic pose characteristic of the sport they represent.
Sports enthusiasts of these disciplines will feel naturally attracted to these symbolic keepsakes of their favourite sport.
The entire range of models has arisen from the Shoot model, inspired by the Football World Cup 2006 in Germany.
