Elgé Chamonix – French Precision with Alpine Character

The Elgé Chamonix blends vintage tool-watch design with modern engineering and a distinct French sense of practical elegance. Inspired by the brand’s original 1950s model and named after the iconic mountain town of Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, this timepiece is built for everyday adventure — refined, durable, and deeply rooted in heritage.

Balanced Proportions, Built for Function

Measuring 38 mm in diameter and just 11.6 mm thick, the Chamonix case offers a rare combination of slim profile and 150 m water resistance. Brushed surfaces meet polished accents on a 316L stainless steel body, with sculpted drilled lugs and a screw-down 7 mm crown ensuring both comfort and utility. The decagonal screw-down caseback — a nod to Elgé’s legacy — adds visual character while securing the France Ébauche movement inside.

A Movement Reborn in France

The FE Auto – No Date powering the Chamonix is manufactured in Maîche by France Ébauche, supported by Soprod and the Festina Group. Based on the FE 5601/5611 architecture, this newly reengineered caliber delivers:

44-hour power reserve. 28,800 vph (4 Hz) frequency. Incabloc® double-cone shock protection. Cross-through balance bridge. Rhodium-plated finish with a visible rotor.

It combines the refinement of a manufacture movement with industrial reliability and serviceability — proudly made in France.

Dial & Hands: Modern Clarity, Vintage Soul

The glossy black lacquered dial is paired with custom serifed numerals, retraced from Elgé’s archives. Super-LumiNova® C3 is applied to raised markers and bold Magnum-style hands, offering excellent low-light performance. The white-tipped central second-hand breaks from convention, omitting a counterweight — a subtle nod to the original Chamonix.

Straps & Details with Purpose

Vegetable-tanned leather straps in black, brown, or tan develop a natural patina over time. An optional bund plate adds a military-inspired layer for wearers seeking a rugged edge. Even the crown and caseback engravings, including a message on water resistance inspection, reflect Elgé’s commitment to practical, long-lasting design.

Packaging with a Sense of Place

Delivered in a deep blue box featuring the silhouette of Chamonix and the Elgé motto FERT – Fortitudo et Robur Telluris, each watch comes with a reusable orange canvas and leather pouch — a nod to alpine rescue gear. Every detail speaks to a watch designed not just to endure, but to accompany.
