Animal World Peacock Watch
Power reserve: 38 h, 28800 vph
The Maison continues its extraordinary journey through the animal kingdom, inviting this peacock to join the party and continuing to explore this world of mystery, playfulness and infinite beauty that has earned it such universal acclaim.
The Animal World Collection pieces are miniature paintings telling extraordinary tales. Each Totem animal to be created represents a new challenge for the goldsmiths, rhodium specialists, chainmakers and gem setters.
Thanks to their exceptional jewellery-making mastery based upon deriving the best possible advantage from shapes, colours and materials, the artisans labouring in the Chopard workshops manage to give life to the animals they shape by endowing them with distinctive gestures, expressions and emotions.
The peacock is a fascinating animal with its tail spread out in a fan shape. The blue pupils bordered by intense green lashes of its multiple shaded velvet eyes, captivates. This solar wheel, a score from Indian mythology, opens the mind to serene contemplation, to the fertility of ideas, to the regeneration of the Soul. The peacock feather is also a symbol of justice, as the balance of the feathers is held by a thread and the weight can break it at the slightest breath.
The motif of the peacock wraps its tail in a lacy plume around the bezel. This jewel watch embodies a majestic protector with a thousand eyes that knows all, sees all.
This animal fascination, animated by an automatic movement, required 340 hours of study and handwork. Covered with some thirty small, tapered feathers, the watch is adorned with 2230 precious and semi-precious stones: Paraíba tourmalines, sapphires, tsavorites, blue lazulites studded with white, cognac, black and brown diamonds. These stones are set on anodised titanium.
In 2013, Chopard embarked on a Journey to Sustainable Luxury, a long-term commitment which aims to protect and preserve the Earth from which we source our raw materials as well as the people involved in our supply chain.
100% of the refined gold used for this watch comes from sources that are verified as having met international best practice environmental and social standards. Chopard also has an in-house foundry which is not only able to guarantee the origin of the gold used in the production but is above all able to directly resmelt gold scraps and production waste in order to recycle unused material.
The diamonds used for this timepiece follow the principles for transparency stipulated by the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme and the Responsible Jewellery Council system of warranties.
Well aware of the numerous challenges associated with the responsible sourcing of coloured gemstones, Chopard joined the Coloured Gemstones Working Group (CGWG) in 2019, a unique alliance between the world's leading luxury jewellery brands and gemstone mining companies that intends to improve and make corporate sustainability accessible to all in the gemstone industry. The main goal is to provide relevant and appropriate educational, training and management resources as well as expert support to enable any business in the coloured gemstone supply chain to demonstrate its commitment to sustainable development and participate in a responsible and transparent industry.
