The Peacock 1953 wristwatch draws design inspiration from the classic original "airplane hands" of China's "Hongqi Watch" in the 1970s, integrating historical elements from different periods. It not only reshapes the retro charm of "airplane hands" but also pays tribute to the glorious years of peace.
The handcrafted titanium-burned "airplane hands"—second hands fired at high temperatures by hand—exhibit an elegant blue-purple hue, shimmering brilliantly under different light angles. With a yield rate of less than 20%, only the finest pieces are selected from the best.
The Arabic numeral hour markers are brand-new originals, inspired by chisel carving—one of the eight traditional Chinese craftsmanships—and extract the essence of ancient calligraphy's pauses and tip lifting.
The dial takes color from the deep green of the Yalu River, with a profound and shiny texture. Under the gradient brushing process, it presents layers from dark green to emerald green as light changes.
The five-sided faceted hands undergo multi-faceted cutting to shape a perfect outline. The front of the hands features a brushing process, with sharp chamfers on all four sides. The edges are hand-polished to a mirror finish. The minute hand is slightly bent to echo the dial's curve and fit the scales more closely.
The date window at the 6 o'clock position features a "Yalu River Bridge" pattern for the "19th" day and a "peace dove" pattern for the "27th" day, symbolizing Dandong's love for peace.
The self-produced PAX6910 movement of Peacock achieves more precise timekeeping through optimization of the escapement system and balance spring adjustment. Key components such as the bridge and rotor are meticulously polished to present exquisite textures and luster. Before assembly, the movement undergoes five-position fine-tuning, calibrating timekeeping by changing the effective length of the balance spring or adjusting the balance wheel's counterweight in each position.
The case is made of 904L aerospace steel, which contains lower carbon and higher chromium, nickel, molybdenum, and other elements compared to 316 stainless steel. This endows it with higher corrosion resistance and strength, while the case chamfers are more delicate and shiny.
The strap is crafted from selected NOVONAPPA calfskin, featuring a flexible and fine texture. Paired with a hand-sewing technique, waxed threads are densely stitched onto the leather surface, with knots securing the leather to protect the material for longer.
