For the 24th edition of the GPHG, the Jury members are…
Visit gphg.org to discover the list of the 30 leading figures from the world of watchmaking and the arts composing the GPHG 2024 Jury, chaired by Nick Foulkes.
Meeting behind closed doors a few days before the ceremony, the jurors will physically assess the 90 timepieces nominated this year by the Academy, combining their varied expertise to select, by secret ballot, the most remarkable contemporary creations.
The jurors were as usual half drawn at random from the Academy under notarial supervision and the other half chosen by the President of the Jury with the endorsement of the GPHG.
“The Jury for this year’s GPHG unites talents from many different branches of the industry who each bring their own unique insights, expertise and informed opinions, and I am honoured as well as humbled to serve as jury president. Honoured because the role is a prestigious one. Humbled because the meeting of the jury and the evening of the much-anticipated awards ceremony comprise just the visible tip of an iceberg of work undertaken throughout the year by the GPHG Foundation to ensure the awards reflect the tempo and character of watchmaking and that through the mediu of the Grand Prix the world sees the very best of contemporary horology. In harder times this vital work is more important ever. It is thanks to the energy and dedication of the Foundation, that GPHG week has established itself as a high point in the watch industry year, when, as with Watches & Wonders, Geneva becomes the cynosure of the horological world.” Nick Foulkes, President of the Jury
Encompassing more than 980 key players from the main sectors of the watch industry, the entire Academy also takes part in selecting the winners via a digital vote, which accounts for a third of the final result.
The 90 nominated watches, divided into 15 categories, are in the running to win 20 awards, including the prestigious “Aiguille d’Or” Grand Prix. They will be presented this autumn in a travelling exhibition that will make stopovers in Hong Kong, Ho Chi Minh City, New York and Geneva, while Bucharest will play host to the winners.
The 2024 prize list will be announced on Wednesday 13 November at the 24th GPHG Awards Ceremony, which will take place in the Théatre du Léman in Geneva at 6.30 pm and will, as every year, celebrate the industry’s excellence and dynamism.
The ceremony will be broadcast live on gphg.org, as well as by several media partners around the world.
