Description

PERCEPTION V3 筠 (Yún) represents the most complete expression of Atelier Wen's vision to redefine contemporary horology through Chinese craftsmanship. Combining a hand-turned guilloché dial by China's foremost master guillocheur, an original Bamboo Green colourway, a highly customised French mechanical calibre, and an innovative micro-frosted case and bracelet finish, Yún brings together traditional artisanal techniques and modern horological engineering in a singular integrated bracelet timepiece.

Hand-crafted guilloché by China's foremost master guillocheur

Central to PERCEPTION V3 筠 (Yún) is a hand-turned guilloché dial created by the workshop of Master Cheng Yucai, China’s foremost guilloché master craftsman.

Each dial is individually cut on a rose-engine lathe of Cheng's own design and construction, using the intricate écailles de poisson pattern that has become synonymous with the PERCEPTION collection. The dial's complex interplay of straight and curved lines creates a dynamic display of light and shadow, bringing the Bamboo Green surface to life with every movement of the wrist.

Master Cheng remains one of only a handful of practitioners preserving traditional engine-turning techniques today. Beyond his own work, he has dedicated himself to training a new generation of artisans in China, helping to ensure the continuation of this centuries-old craft.

A new expression in Bamboo Green

Named after the Chinese character 筠 (Yún), a literary term associated with bamboo, this reference introduces a new permanent colourway to the PERCEPTION collection.

For centuries, bamboo has symbolised integrity, resilience, humility, and scholarship within Chinese culture. The dial's carefully developed Bamboo Green tone was selected to reflect these values, offering a nuanced and understated interpretation of green that complements the intricacy of the guilloché beneath.

The dial is paired with a unique micro-frosted finish applied to both the 904L stainless steel case and bracelet. Contrasted by mirror-polished chamfers, the resulting appearance is sleek and architectural, creating a distinctive visual identity unlike any previous PERCEPTION model.

A highly customised Pequignet calibre EPM03

Visible through a full exhibition caseback, Yún is powered by a heavily customised version of the Pequignet Calibre EPM03.

This modern French-made calibre offers a 65-hour power reserve, 21 jewels, chronometer-grade accuracy (-4/+6 seconds per day with an average of ±2 seconds per day), and adjusted in 6 positions and three temperatures.

Atelier Wen reimagined the movement visually through bridges inspired by traditional Chinese depictions of wind, filled with blue aventurine lacquer. Additional decorative techniques include wavy côtes de Genève on the escapement bridge, 3D laser-etched markings on the ratchet return wheel, a snailed mainspring barrel, perlage on the baseplate, and a rotor combining both frosting and snailing.

The movement serves not merely as a technical engine, but as an extension of the watch's artistic identity, establishing a dialogue between Chinese decorative traditions and contemporary mechanical horology.

Refining the integrated bracelet sports watch

PERCEPTION V3 introduces significant refinements throughout its construction.

The case and bracelet feature sharper transitions, enhanced flexibility, and improved finishing. The bracelet incorporates individually chamfered links, quick-release spring bars, a patented on-the-fly micro-adjustment system, and a telescopic deployant blade mechanism for exceptional comfort.

A newly introduced box sapphire crystal with ten layers of internal anti-reflective coating further enhances the depth and visual impact of the dial, while the open caseback reveals the movement in its entirety for the first time in the collection's history.

By combining traditional Chinese craftsmanship, cultural storytelling, and modern mechanical engineering, PERCEPTION V3 筠 (Yún) represents a contemporary expression of Chinese watchmaking on the international stage.
