Fleurier 44mm 22-day Tourbillon with retrograde date, power-reserve indicator and a second time zone
BOVET presents one of the most spectacular technical advances of 2006 in this hand-wound tourbillon wristwatch with an unprecedented power reserve of 22 days from 2 parallel barrels.
|
The watch also features a retrograde date and a second time zone shown on a 24-hour scale at 6 o'clock on the dial. Sliding a bolt at 3 o'clock on the side of the case sets the time zone. The 22-day power-reserve is indicated at the back of the watch on a central rose-gold or silver color plate with a sunburst satin finish and engraved and blued numerals.
A movement that will keep going for more than three weeks off the wrist is a remarkable achievement, especially when it also drives a second time indication and an energy-accumulating retrograde date. Managing the energy stored in the twin barrels requires watchmaking skills of the highest order. The 368 individual parts of the movement have to be finished, assembled and oiled with maximum finesse to ensure none of the precious energy is wasted in friction.
In tribute to Bovet's history, the movement is engraved by hand fleurisanne-style. The one-minute tourbillon has been stylized to represents BOVET's emblem, a 12-petalled lotus flower.
