Description

The TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon x Porsche Panamericana is a limited-edition watch that embodies speed, heritage, and precision; and which illustrates the strong partnership between TAG Heuer and Porsche. This new timepiece celebrates the 70th anniversary of Porsche victories during the 1954 edition of the Panamericana race: first & second in the under 1500cc sports car class and third & fourth overall.

The Carrera Panamericana race, known for its perilous 3,000-kilometer race through Mexico, has been legendary since its inception in 1950. It pushed drivers and their machines to the limits, cementing its place in motorsport history. It also influenced Jack Heuer who named the Carrera collection after the legendary yet fateful race.

Inspired by the iconic Porsche 550 Spyder racecar, the watch features a skeletonized dial with details and shapes resembling the car’s wheels. The color scheme — gray, yellow, and black — draws from the original vehicle's livery, with yellow lacquered hands adding a distinctive sporting touch. The dial’s shimmery effect and its grained texture evoke the car’s bodywork paint and the asphalt of the road, enhancing its racing appeal.

The 42mm watch boasts a stainless-steel case with alternating fine-brushed and polished finishes and features the original Porsche “Spyder” logo engraved, in Porsche's iconic 1950 font. The domed sapphire Glassbox crystal, designed for easy readability, curves seamlessly over the flange, blending into the case and paying homage to the 1970s' designs. Subtly integrated on the curved flange, the Porsche logo reveals itself under the Glassbox crystal.

Powering this masterpiece is the TH20-09 in-house tourbillon movement, offering a 65-hour power reserve for ultimate precision. The Porsche steering wheel mass, visible through the sapphire open caseback, serves as a tribute to the automotive inspiration. The black perforated calfskin leather strap, with yellow lining and stitching, adds a sporty yet vintage charm, while the visible lining on the side enhances its athletic aesthetic.

Each watch is individually numbered, featuring special engraving that underscore its exclusivity. The TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon x Porsche Panamericana is limited to 255 pieces, “55” being the number of the Porsche 550 Spyder car.

This new timepiece stands as a testament to the shared passion between TAG Heuer and Porsche, making it a coveted piece for watch aficionados and automotive enthusiasts alike.
